SCENE 1: THE INTRO
CONRAD: Hello, everyone. Welcome. Thank you all so much for coming out to this fantastic event. I see a lot of familiar faces and a few new ones. Welcome.
We have a big show just packed full of mind-blowing science fiction content, so I don’t want to take too long with this introduction, but we’ve just been informed that the Galactic Audience Authority will be sitting in on today’s performance. Now, I don’t want to get too deep into the weeds on galactic audience law, but, to keep all of you out of trouble with the powers that be, make sure your phone is on silent. Or off, if you’re some kind of maniac. We will also be recording your reactions this evening, so please keep your cross chatter contained to the intermission or the patio.
Also, to make sure that we’ve got the right show for you, and that we’re in the right Universe at the moment, we need to do a couple of calibration tests. Just react naturally to the following hypothetical stimuli.
You hear a funny joke.
Wait.
You hear the worst pun of your entire life.
Wait.
Space Outlaw Country Sensation Zarth Wormholes makes a surprise appearance.
Wait.
Orgelthrek, Master of Darkness and Purveyor of Galactic Destruction has turned around and left this sector.
Wait.
There’s ice cream for everyone!
Wait.
Actually, there’s no ice cream.
Wait.
You hear something you feel pretty darn neutral about.
Wait.
You quite suddenly take a vow of silence.
Wait.
Excellent. We’re in the right place, and we’ve got the right show for you. Mostly. Might need a few tweaks.
I would like to take this time to thank our supporters on Patreon, Brittney Garcia, Griffin Berlstein, Your Real Dad, Jatta, Jessica Gaddis, Kakos Industries, Liz Johanson, Nancy Celaya, Patty Karakas, Russell Scott, Sarah Smith, Josh Green, and Valerie.
And we would love to take this time to thank the live audience as well. Go ahead and clap for yourselves.
Wait.
Okay, based on that my readings tell me we might be in the wrong Universe after all. We’ll work it out. We’ve got a great program for you tonight. Let’s get started!
